‘Pupils have their horizons broadened’

Peartree Primary School has been praised for its high standards, broad range of enrichment opportunities, and warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The school, in Welwyn Garden City, was inspected by Ofsted in April and found to have maintained the standard since its previous inspection, when it was judged to be Good. Inspectors highlighted the caring, ambitious staff and happy pupils.
The report says: “Pupils are enthusiastic about their experiences at this school. They appreciate how staff care, want them to succeed and have high standards for them. Pupils are successful at this school, with published outcomes above national averages.
“Pupils have their horizons broadened. They learn new sports and take part in competitions. Many pupils participate in school clubs, from sports to art and drama. There is an active school council and pupils like being sports leaders.”
The report adds: “Pupils are safe and happy here. The school is calm and welcoming. Leaders have ensured that staff share their vision and have the skills and knowledge to improve pupils’ outcomes.”
Megan Hardy, Head of School, says: “We are incredibly proud of the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, which we feel reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff at Peartree in ensuring that all children feel supported and valued.
“I am pleased that the ambition that staff have for our children to succeed has been recognised, and that the calm and caring atmosphere we have worked hard to achieve and maintain is reflected. I look forward to continuing the success of Peartree for both our pupils and wider community.”
