New Fast Feedback book to be published

We’re delighted to announce that our highly acclaimed no marking policy, Fast Feedback, is the subject of a new book to be published by Bloomsbury Education in 2022.
Fast Feedback: How one primary school abolished written marking tells the story of Lavender Primary School’s journey to transform its approach to marking and how this has reduced teacher workload, improved staff retention and made children’s learning more effective.
Written by Lesley Hill and Gemma Whitby, with a foreword from Ivy Leader Matthew Kleiner-Mann, the book provides both theory and practical advice, so that teachers and leaders can confidently follow the same steps to reform marking in their own school.
Fast Feedback was developed by Matthew when, as a headteacher, he saw an NQT wheeling a suitcase full of marking out of school and realised that something had to change. This inspired the introduction of a new policy where children mark their own work, with all feedback from staff given verbally. The book documents the highs and lows of this journey and lessons learned along the way.
Since then, Fast Feedback has been rolled out to schools nationwide and has been the subject of a series of successful conferences.
Fast Feedback: How one primary school abolished written marking will be released on 14 April 2022 and is now available to pre-order on the Bloomsbury website.
