Maths? No problem!

In just two years, Brimsdown Primary School moved from Requires Improvement status to becoming a role model for maths teaching.
The Enfield school is now accredited by the global series Maths – No Problem! and offers support to other schools looking to adopt the award-winning approach. It’s also part of the London Thames Maths Hub.
Maths – No Problem! aims to build the confidence of the nation’s maths teachers and learners. It’s a transformational approach to maths teaching which stems from high performing Asian nations, such as Singapore.
On Friday, Brimsdown hosted a conference, offering people the chance to see how the school teaches maths, and look at live lessons and children’s books. Delegates also got the opportunity to learn more about our Fast Feedback marking policy.
Here’s just some of the feedback the school received:
- “Inspirational”
- “Amazing”
- “I didn’t want to leave the classroom”
- “Every member of staff is a credit to this school”
Brimsdown headteacher, Dani Lang, says: “We have successfully implemented the Maths – No Problem! textbooks and workbooks across the whole school, doing a one-day inset with all teachers and support staff. Our children are noticeably more confident with their maths, prompting visitors to comment often on the maths being taught, with remarks such as, ‘Wow, the maths looks amazing, how can I find out more information’?”
Thanks to everyone who came to the conference. If you’d like to find out more, please do get in touch with the school – email Office@Brimsdown.enfield.sch.uk or call 020 8804 6797.
