BAFTA comes to Churchfield Primary

This week, the BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be came to Churchfield Primary School, along with some very special guests.
Hosted by television presenter Ben Shires and actress Kia Pegg, pupils enjoyed an assembly, got up close to a BAFTA award, and joined in with interactive events throughout the day.
BAFTA has been partnering with Place2Be since 2016 and the Roadshow teaches important life skills through film, games and television. Supported by experts across the screen, it aims to champion pupils’ creativity, boost confidence and signpost potential careers in the industry.
Each Roadshow includes interactive elements, like competitions and roundtable discussions, classroom meet and greets, a games design workshop and a presenting masterclass.
Natalie Lorkins, Headteacher at Churchfield, says: “The children had a brilliant day and absolutely loved taking part in the different workshops and roundtables. Afterwards, the BAFTA team commented on the warm and enthusiastic welcome they received at Churchfield as well as the impressive behaviour of our pupils. The word inspiration came up throughout the day and BAFTA said they’d never heard students this young talking about their role in the world and how they wanted to inspire others. We’re incredibly proud of the children.
Thank you to BAFTA and Place2Be for an amazing day!
